Today: I do! I do!

We're off on a roadtrip to Westport, Connecticut to see Kate Baldwin and Lewis Cleale in I do! I do! at the historic Westport Country Playhouse.  I have a feeling it will be like time traveling and I can't wait!

Hi Sarah

Have been enjoying all these shows vicariously through your wonderfully detailed comments. I too am a Kate Baldwin fan, having discovered her fab voice via Finian's Rainbow, a sweet and favourite musical of mine. And yes, I have the cast recording! I was thrilled to find it used the original arrangements which gave a real sense of the Broadway sound of the day. I'll look forward to an 'I Do,I Do' review. I wonder how tenacious a performer has to be to keep working, being seen and heard in order to move their career along. I do hope Kate is offered another Broadway role soon; she clearly deserves it. Thanks for your generous posts.

Hi Sarah
Have been really enjoying your blog and theatre-going observations; lucky you living in New York! I'm sure you'll post comments on "I Do!I Do!" soon enough. I, too, from so far away in Australia, am a Kate Baldwin fan, having discovered her fab voice through 'Finian's Rainbow', a sweet and favourite musical of mine. And yes, I have the cast CD! I often wonder how tenacious such an artist must be in order to keep working, be seen/heard in order to get a break on Broadway. I hope another is around the corner for her. Thanks again for sharing your detailed posts.

Thanks for stopping by designmatters! You would love I do! I do! - maybe you can make it to Westport before it closes on September 4th? Kate will be doing some concerts in NYC and points beyond over the next year, but I'm with you - I hope for another Broadway production very soon for her.

Hi Sarah

Thanks for the I do!I do! review; I am, sadly, too far away (over 10,000 miles in Australia) to pop over but a small seed has planted itself in my brain to visit New York sometime soon and take in some wonderful Broadway theatre. Let's hope it coincides with Kate Baldwin installed in a new show… something ever so much better than Paradise Found! It's lovely to watch someone coming into their own and cheer them on. From your accounts, that support is appreciated and acknowledged.
Cheers from Australia.

Oh you're an Aussie! Yes, it's just a bit difficult to just pop over. Kate will be doing a number of concerts this year, including one at Lincoln Center Allen Room in January or February - I'm not certain of the date and it's not on the published calendar yet. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a new production for her.
