BBC Music Magazine has named Stephen Sondheim as one of the "10 Great Crossover Artists" in its August 2006 edition. Really? "Pundits still argue over whether the American's ever-popular Sweeney Todd is an opera or a musical. Recent gripping productions at Opera North and Covent Garden should have left most listeners in no doubt as to which side of the fence they should be sitting."
Well, it is true that those who are Sondheimish will take any Sondheim they can get wherever they can get it. Stay tuned what else I have to say...
