Dream Dinner with Friends

In the December issue of Bon Appetit, Renée talks about having a dream dinner with Joni Mitchell, Susan Graham and Sybil Sanderson. This inspires me to think about who I would choose to invite to a dream dinner. Maybe a stimulating intellectual dinner party with Sondheim, Hammerstein and La Chiusa would be interesting. We could discuss the joys of rhyming. Or perhaps a dinner with Renée Fleming, Susan Graham and Debbie Voigt would be ultra glamorous. I'd like to invite Bernadette Peters, Angela Lansbury and Patti LuPone - they could tell me about what its like to be in a Sondheim musical firsthand and then take turns telling dirty jokes. Oh, there are too many choices. Fortunately I'm pretty damn lucky to have dinner with really great friends where there is always laughter and sparkling conversation. But if I'm invited to dine with any of these dream dinner dates, I won't be turning them down.
