My Fair Lady at the New York Philharmonic
So more subscription drama today: the New York Philharmonic offered Sondheim's Company as part of its 2006/2007 subscription season. When the regional production of Company moved to Broadway, it became clear that the New York Philharmonic could not produce the concert event and sent a letter to its subscribers informing us that another Broadway show would replace it. Variety reports that it will be My Fair Lady. Am I excited? I think so. I've never seen a staged production and of course, the score is terrific. I mean, come on, I Could Have Danced All Night backed up by that luscious philharmonic? Oh, yeah! I checked the New York Philharmonic's website for confirmation and while it is not up on its calendar yet, my "account" does indicate that I have two tickets for My Fair Lady on Saturday, March 10th. In the meantime, we'll have fun speculating who will play Eliza. There hasn't been a Broadway revival since 1993.

Kelli O'Hara and Kelsey Grammer. Is that good, bad or a little of both?
I THINK GOOD!!!! She is very versatile, as she demonstrated in her two recent turns on Broadway - first playing a mentally challenged young woman in The Light in the Piazza to a very womanly Babe. I think she will be terrific!
Uh that was a very womanly Babe in the Pajama Game.
