Today: Eric Bogosian's Talk Radio starring Liev Schreiber with Peter Hermann, Michael Laurence, Stephanie March, Sebastian Stan, Christine Pedi, Barbara Rosenblat, Marc Thompson, Adam Seitz and
Cornell Womack.
Liev Schreiber is cooler than cool even when he's not playing it cool in this procative, somewhat depressing, play about a talk radio host on the verge of taking his show into syndication. He uses and abuses people, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and mostly himself but you get the sense that somewhere down deep he does care about the things he's talking about. I thought the subject matter would be too challenging, too political and too depressing, but it was exhilarating. And Liev is hot, hot, hot and you can't go wrong with him on the stage for almost the entire 125 minutes.
Thanks to Christine for the extra student rush ticket. I dig students when they exercise their rushing capability.
And lucky me, Liev is on TNT tonight in The Manchurian Candidate...okay, so it's not really THE The Manchurian Candidate but it's still pretty damn good.
