Let it rain!

The revival of 110 in the Shade is absolutely wonderful! Despite its old school book and slightly outdated ideas about the fate of a single woman, it is a wallop of a show. It has a lot of everything from sadness to sweetness. And, it's funny. Audra McDonald, backed by a solid cast, delivers beyond all of my wildest dreams. She is completely at home on the Studio 54 stage. Just like the cartwheel she turns in "Raunchy", she'll have you turned upside down. It was a thrill to see John Cullum on stage - oh, what a voice he has! The staging is nicely done and perfectly enhanced by lighting. During the intermission, I ran to the box office to buy two tickets for my mother's visit in May. There was a line of patrons doing the same thing. I laughed, I cried and I jumped to my feet to cheer at the curtain call. This is Broadway entertainment at its best.

She was exquisite in LA's production of "Mahagonny." She was the most operatic of the opera singers, and sang consistently beautifully. Dramatically, she blew everyone else off the stage...and I'm a huge Patti Lupone fan...
