My Media Week

Okay, Kari and bob, here's my Media Week. I have to admit, it's doesn't vary much from week to week.

BOOKS

Kevin loaned me 'Tis Herself, a Memoir, the autobiography by Maureen O'Hara. I just started it but so far, it's delightful, just as she is.

I've been carrying a A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry around in my bag, but I haven't cracked the spine yet.

I've been revisiting Craig Zadan's Sondheim & Co., but this is pretty much a constant reference guide.

TV

I've been watching Clean House on the Style network to get inspired about cleaning my apartment. Seeing the amount of junk some people have has sort of shamed me into not being a horder.

The Golden Girls has been back on Lifetime. I just can't resist.

Of course, I have to support my Murder, She Wrote on the Hallmark Channel. It really is true that I loved this show way back when, before I even knew Angela Lansbury was a Broadway Star.

The rest of the time I'm just watching shows I've DVR'd: Seth's Chatterbox, Broadway Beat, NY1's On Stage, The American Theatre Wing's Working in the Theatre, Women in Theatre, Conversations with William Hoffman, and Theatre Talk

Music

I just double-checked my iPod but it's the same as always - show stoppers from mostly leading ladies:

A Time for Singing - Tessie O'Shea in A Time for Singing
Don't Rain on My Parade - Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl
Don't Tell Mama - Natasha Richardson in the 1998 revival of Cabaret
It's Today - Angela Lansbury in Mame
Everybody's Girl - Debra Monk in Steel Pier
I'm All I've Got - Michelle Lee in Bravo Giovanni
I Can Cook Too - Nancy Walker in On the Town, Studio Cast
Not on Your Nellie - Patricia Routledge in Darling of the Day
Wherever He Ain't - Bernadette Peters in Mack & Mabel
Best Friend - Tonya Pinkins and Toni Collette in The Wild Party
Well, I'm Not - Chita Rivera in Bring Back Birdie
I Had a Ball - Karen Morrow in I Had a Ball
Sing Happy - Liza Minnelli in Flora, The Red Menace
When I'm Drunk, I'm Beautiful - Angela Lanbury in Prettybelle
Blow, Gabriel, Blow - Patti LuPone in Anything Goes
Gorgeous - Barbara Harris in The Apple Tree
I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair - Mary Martin in South Pacific
Loads of Love - Diahann Carrol in No Strings

Brava! All divas all the time. And that cleaning show obviously had an effect -- next you can come clean my place.

Wow, I can't believe you have so many theater options on tv! My local PBS station just started airing Theater Talk, so I'm pretty excited about that.
