[and the Drama desk goes to]

[title of show] will be hosting the 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards on May 18th. The Drama Desk is to the Tonys what the Golden Globes are to the Oscars, only even more laid back. Traditionally, the evening has been held at the LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, you know, the high school on Fame! I can only imagine what those Tossers Jeff, Hunter, Susan and Heide (and sometimes Larry) will do for the show this year. Last year, hosted by Kristin Chenoweth, was just awkward and painful. I ushered at the event in 2004 and 2005 and had an unbelievable time. My most memorable moments were handing a playbill to Hugh Jackman who smiled down at me (and then promptly and very appropriately swooning); helping Boy George and his enteorage find their seats after they came in late - I was mesmerized by his makeup and his smell - all alcohol and cigarettes; directing John Lithgow to the men's room during intermission; and finally, helping Donna Murphy back to her seat after she won for Wonderful Town.

In related news, tickets for [title of show]'s Broadway run at the Lyceum went on sale yesterday. The Lyceum box office will open on June 14th. I can't wait!
