It's a well known fact that I don't care that much for Christmas music.

Isn't it a well known fact? It should be. I do like some seasonal music but it's really more about winter and things that happen in snow - you know, the jazzy tunes cut in the 40s, 50s & 60s by girl singers like Lena Horne, Rosemary Clooney, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald...and one of my favorite newer albums is Tony Bennett's Snowfall although I only put the jazzy winter tunes on iTunes. BUT, I love Christmas movies so when I heard that White Christmas the Musical would grace the Great White Wintery Way this December, I shouted for joy. I love love love White Christmas the movie. I've always watched it every Christmas season and I finally bought it. I love it so much for that fabulous ensemble of Rosemary Clooney, Vera Ellen, Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby. It's so corny, but it's just great Berlin tune after tune performed at their very best. So, I'll definitely be at the Marquis Theatre this winter and maybe, just maybe, I'll turn into a Christmas music lover. (PS my Kate Baldwin starred as Betty Haynes, the Rosemary Clooney character, in the 2005 San Francisco production of White Christmas the Musical. I am hoping that she reprises the role here on Broadway!)

I LOVE this movie!!! Rosemary Clooney is my favourite. Remember when she decides to leave the sister act and gets the job as a solo singer in NY? Then Bing Crosby goes down to NY to get all the service men to come up to VT? Then when he is in NY he happens to catch Rosemary Clooney's show? Then she is getting ready to do a song about love and then wants to change the song when she realises he is in the audience?

Remember the black dress she was wearing in that scene? That is one of the most amazing dresses to have ever existed.

I also happen to love Christmas music and listen to it all year round. How could you not love Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"?!?!

Which, of course was not in White Christmas.

Oh! Do you remember that dancing scene in White Christmas where all those men were throwing Vera around the stage. That was hilarious!

Come to think of it, White Christmas actually had very little to do with Christmas.

I too, love, love, love this movie - it is my faaaavvvvoorrriiittee Christmas movie and I hope that they don't bugger it up and that they do bring K. Baldwin back in it!

Yeah...come to think of it, it's not about Christmas at all really...oh well.

Wow. I guess I really need to watch the flick sometime. It never interested me until you and Roxie started telling me how much it's one of your favorites.

And for the record (and this will come as no surprise), I love Christmas tunes. For me, it's the happiest time of the year.

It's no "Holiday Inn..."

(places tongue firmly in cheek)

But Sarah, you must love "We Need a Little Christmas"!! I'm with Steve, I love Christmas music, with a special preference for 'O Holy Night,' one of the more popular requests in my salad days...

Well, duh on the We Need a Little Christmas...but that's about overcoming depression, no? And I didn't say I didn't like sacred music. It's the crap that will start playing in and around Rock Center and every store in America before Thanksgiving - the forced feeling of glee that just irritates the heck out of me. It just makes me bah humbug.

Working at B&N during Christmas is akin to Chinese water torture when it comes to the bizarre selection they put on

"My Favorite Things" is not a flipping Christmas song, so thank you Tony Bennett and go home.
