I want to be in more than one place at once!

Being a New Yorker means having to make lots of choices: there are just too many wonderful things to do all at the same time! I really wish the cultural planners would ask me first and work around my schedule. For instance, this Monday, the 8th, I had a ticket for the Little Fish album release concert/party at Joe's Pub. It would be very special to be there because Noah, aka Little Love, directed this little known show at Emerson in 2006 to rave reviews. He introduced this Michael John LaChiusa work to me and I love it and am so happy that this work finally has a cast album. But then I was invited to the taping to see Renée Fleming in Elvis Costello's Spectacle at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. Since I was invited and it's at the Apollo, where I've been just dying to go, I just can't pass it up. There are always amazing things going on on Monday nights in Manhattan. It's not a show night (well, most shows are dark) so the community gets out for extra-curricular fun: Barbara Walsh is doing a cabaret at the Laurie Beechman; the annual Broadway Blessing is at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine; and, the wonderful Jeff Blumenkrantz is at the Cast Party at Birdland. Oh, so many choices!
