In love with La Rondine
I loved La Rondine! Puccini's score had shades of La Boheme and Madama Butterfly, and was perfectly lovely. The story is fun, sweet and ultimately sad, and for once, nobody died. Angela Gheorghiu's voice was wonderful - full and pretty and floating. Bobby Alagna gave me chills. I loved them both and was so happy to see and hear them both together. There was nothing boring here at all - from the gorgeous set to the gorgeous costumes - and this is an opera I could see and see and see again. At intermission, Noah turned me and said, "Doesn't it just make you want to fall in love?"

Love love LOVE! Sally and I will be "seeing" "Gran Torino" on Saturday, if you know what I mean...
if the weather is bad, we'll be seeing "Gran Torino" with y'all...just love Clint Eastwood in a sweater vest, if you know what I mean...
Did you read the interview with Gheorghiu in December's issue of "Opera News" magazine? I do not care what director David McVicar says, or rather will not say, I still like her voice even if her personl character is a little corrupted. She is a diva, is she not? Has she ever pretended to be anyting else? I cannot wait to hear this broadcast over the radio!
