Baby June becomes a murderess

Last year I asked, "Whatever happened to Babies June and Louise?" Well, after 35 years, Bonnie Langford, who played "Baby June" in the 1973 West End production and the first Broadway revival of Gypsy returns to Broadway. As reported by Playbill, she stepped into the role of "Roxie Hart" at Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre yesterday. She previously played the role in the UK and in Canada on tour. She'll be the murderess until July 5th.

1973, AT THE PICADILLY THEATRE IN THE LONDON WEST END

1974, AT THE WINTER GARDEN THEATRE ON BROADWAY

Happy Birthday!

What's with the two versions of the same Press Shots? Is one West End, one Bway? I'm curious!

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks RivB! Yes, take a closer look. The first set is from London, the second from New York. The costumes are different.

I really like Angie's hair in NY. Much more natural looking than those period wigs in London.

If she kept her hair natural like yours, you'd be bald!

That's so interesting! I JUST saw Bonnie Langford as Roxie Hart in the National Tour here in Ottawa, Canada (just over a week ago!)
I thought she was the ONLY amazing member of the cast - she had me astounded with her fresh performance. I am delighted to hear she's moved so quickly to Broadway - clearly the producers and I thought similarly about her~
