Sad News: Deborah Kerr

I just learned that Deborah Kerr passed away on Tuesday. She was the epitomy of English Rose elegance. I loved her humor and her melodrama and her screen presence. Just last week I watched I See A Dark Stranger. It was delightful - it was Deborah's first "starring" role and she was 25 years old. I'm sure you've seen Tea and Sympathy and of course, From Here to Eternity and it goes without saying, The King and I, but you must see Separate Tables, The Sundowners, Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison, The Innocents, The Grass is Greener. Well, really, you must see them all. I've seen all of them, many, many times over and many of these are a part of my library. She had not been in public for many years and had not even made a television movie for over 20 years, sequestering herself due to Parkinson's disease. We are lucky to still have her on film.

We are indeed lucky to have her on film. It was a sad day because she was such a wonderful actress and outstanding woman.
