We're going to see Violetta Urmana and Roberto Alagna in Aida at La Scala today, without even getting out our passports or leaving the Upper West Side.
How many adjectives are there for "wow"? Seeing Aida on the movie screen was a completely satisfying experience...the only thing that would have been better would have been being there in person. The cast was perfect, as was Franco Zeffirelli's lush and minutely detailed set. And when the camera panned the audience during the curtain call, I'm certain that we saw our beloved Opera Chic all dolled up and cheering from her royal box!
P.S. When can we get Ildikó Komlósi and Violetta Urmana back at the Met?
