For obvious reasons, this is my favorite aria. This is Susan Graham singing New York Has Changed Me from Picker's An American Tragedy at the Met. This was the first contemporary opera I saw and I went back three times, although I wish I had gone more. It also starred Patricia Racette, Dolora Zajick and Nathan Gunn. It was supposed to be revived last season, albeit without Susan due to her schedule. Alas, the Met chose to revive The First Emperor instead, probably only to get some mileage out of those exhorbitantly expensive costumes. Sigh.
