Diama Damrau is bloody good!

Sally and I saw Diana Damrau in Lucia di Lammermore at the Met last night, courtesy of a friend. Oh, her voice - it's simply glorious! She makes it all seem so effortless. We saw Natalie Dessay in the role two seasons ago and I loved her in it. The only thing different here was Diana's voice. The story or acting weren't a revelation except that I remembered how much I loved the music. Tenors aren't my favorite, but I enjoyed Piotr Beczala's Edgardo very much. He has a lovely voice. I loved Ildar Abdrazakov as Raimondo. Is he busy this season or what? I'm certainly glad for that. I think I've shown disdain toward the Bel Canto in the past, but now I'm thinking that this might be one of my favorite operas. And isn't Marco Armiliato just the most adorable and entertaining conductor around?

Conductor: Marco Armiliato
Lucia: Diana Damrau
Edgardo: Piotr Beczala
Enrico: Vladimir Stoyanov
Raimondo: Ildar Abdrazakov
