Rory Gilmore was making history

Earlier this week, Playbill told us that the lovely, delightful and very funny Lauren Graham - you betcha, I'm a fan - will be Adelaide in the upcoming revival of Guys and Dolls. Holy Craps Game, now I'm excited! I was feeling all sour about this seemingly unnecessary revival (What about Mame! What about A little Night Music! What about Follies!), but now I'm uber excited. I adore Lauren. Plus, Kari and I have seen her at least twice at the Broadway theatre - well, I saw her once and Kari saw her twice - once at Sweeney Todd and once at Gypsy. This, of course, means that she has the same tastes we do so she'll probably become best friends with us and come over and drink lots of bottles of cheap Chilean wine and watch re-runs. Yes! But wait, back to the point. Lauren Graham was the star of Gilmore Girls, the wonderfully smart dramedy about a young single mother and her very smart teenage daughter. Besides it just being a good story, writer and executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino took every opportunity she could to refer to Broadway in the form of actors and lines in the most obscure lines. She never failed to amaze and delighyt me. The other stars were Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop (Tony award for A Chorus Line!) and Edward Herrmann (I crush on him!). In four days, Senator Barack Obama will become President-Elect Barack Obama. And here are Lauren, Alexis, Kelly, Edward and some other very recognizable and regular Gilmore Girls cast members finishing up their series right when Senator Obama was just getting started on his series. How perfect.

I love that show, but I have not seen it in a very very long time, since Rory was in high school.

Now she is all grown up.

But, um, can someone explain to my why the whole town just shuffled in carrying things, and then shuffled back out?
