Broke-ology at Lincoln Center Theatre

How exciting it was to be invited by Lincoln Center Theatre as a theatre blogger to see the new play Broke-ology by Nathan Louis Jackson!

Unfortunately, the excitement quickly faded. I found Jackson's play disappointing. A dramedy about a poor, black family in Kansas City, it was little more than cliché and was completely predictable. The dialogue was unbelievable and awkward. Furthermore, the acting was mediocre at times, although not completely without charm, especially by Francois Battiste.

Fortunately, there was a bonus of being in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre that evening: I was coincidentally joined by my friend, fellow blogger and actor, Jimmy Moon. His presence definitely sweetened the deal. I just love running in to people I know, especially one as charming and witty as he. It saved an evening that might have otherwise been dull.
