Speaking for the ALS Association

Last month, my Aunt Diane's husband, Bob Govier, passed away after a battle against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's disease". Bob was a retired professor, spoke several languages, loved music, traveling, and playing tennis. He was fun loving and a big talker. ALS was complete torture, not only for him but those who were around him and loved him. It took away everything about him but his mind and because of the debilitating effects, he was no longer able to share his mind. This morning, Angela Lansbury appeared on the Today Show as spokesperson for the ALS Association. Her sister Isolde passed away from this disease in 1987. Angela said she has chosen now to join in and speak out because "it's time to give something back." Click here to watch the Today Show clip.
